6 Month Dr. Visit!

So I'm a little late on this one. I took Maggie in for her 6 month check up on Monday. She was 25 1/2 inches (40th percentile) and 18lbs (80th percentile). The Dr. said everything looks like she is doing well. She reacted well to the shots too. Our little girl is growing so fast. She has started waking up in the middle of the night though. I think it's because more teeth are trying to come in. Poor little girl.
Yesterday was a very busy day. I didn't get many things done that I would have liked to, but Maggie and I got to go with Angie to look at houses and found one that is going to be their new home.
I have several pictures (of course) but don't have them on this computer. I'll have to do that later.

6 Months old!

It's hard to believe my baby is now 6 months old. Half a year!!! She has been such a blessing. The first 2 pictures were from Sunday, but I had to add them too. I was sitting at her head and she turned and gave me the biggest grin. I missed the grin, but love this shot anyway.I did get a smile later.

We haven't had much of an opportunity to get out and get those cute swimsuits on so since I was taking pics today anyway here they are:

Inside she was happy for me

But when we went outside she wouldn't look at me

She is sitting up better and better everyday. She was facinated by the grass, but didn't want to lay down on it.

Here is the other swimsuit Aunt Sandy gave Maggie. Again not looking at Mommy.

It was too hot, sunny and she wanted to be held.

Much better now that we are inside.

The final outfit for today.

I decided to try one more time outside, but once again she would not look at me.

I put my camera on the blanket under her face and this is the face I got.

Better in Mommy's arms.

And much better inside. I guess she just doesn't want a sunburn. That's my girl.

I love this look on her face.

I had pillows back behind her so she could lean on them but she wanted to sit up.

Time to play with the quilt Lorene made.

Jael and Emalea picked out this bunny for Maggie when she was born. We took a picture of her with it while we were in the hospital. I'll add that one later. Here is one with her and the bunny holding hands.

Today is also Andrea's birthday! We thought it was fun for Maggie to be born on Andrea's half birthday. It will make it easier for them to remember.

tooth pics

ok so this one doesn't show a tooth, but isn't she cute!?! She tried to open her mouth enough to see them...

If you click on the pic you can see the one that came in last week(on your left) but the other one is still too small to see in pictures. It came in while I was at work Wednesday night.

Busy day!

Maggie got to wear her "I Love Mommy and Mommy loves me!" onesie today. It's still a little big right now. It's a 6 month and she will be 6 months on the 19th.
The last two weeks she has been rolling on her side and almost all the way over when she rolls back to where she was. I keep telling her that she rolled over when she was younger and she already knows how, but she wasn't ready just yet. Well, today when I was changing a diaper she started to roll over and teased me for a little bit then finally went on over. She stayed on her tummy for a while then decided she wanted back on her back so she rolled back over. About 30 min. later she did it again. So life is about to get more busy for us.
All day I kept feeling of Maggies gums because the tooth next to the one that came in earlier last week looked like it was about to come in. Then while I was at work Daddy sent me a text message to tell me it came in! Now we really have to watch our fingers. OUCH!

Almost 6 months and a GREAT story!

This is an outfit Aunt Paula gave Maggie

Just chilling at home in Daddy's chair.

We went to the drive in Friday night.

I tried to get a pic of all 4 of us.

Aunt Sandy gave Maggie a duck bath for her half birthday. It's still a little early, but she got to take a bath in it this morning.

It was easier to take a pic of her and the duck when Daddy came in to make sure she stays in place.

After church we went to Sandy's to eat and now she is feeding Maggie.

This is what we saw outside our house when we got home. I love clouds like that.

Now for a story...
As I was loading the first 5 pictures for this post I went into the living room to play with Maggie. Mike had made grilled cheese sandwiches and Maggie kept looking at mine, so I took off a small piece and gave it to her. She downed it like nothing so I gave her another and another. At one point she choked a little so I turned her around and she spit one piece out and I put it back in. This went on a couple more times until I decided she was done. Then I noticed another piece still in her mouth, but she seemed to be happy with it. I started talking with her and all of a sudden she blew a raspberry and the piece of cheese flew out of her mouth and right between my eyes. I laughed so hard. Mike turned to see what was going on and when I turned to show him he started laughing. We laughed til we cried.... Ahhh Mike is so proud of his little girl and her good aim.
Gotta love it!

Grandma, Grandpa & James

Grandma and Grandpa picked up James yesterday so he can move to PA! They came to our house so we could see James before he leaves. He loved holding Maggie and she really liked him.

James playing with Maggie in her saucer. She loved it!
This morning while I was in the kitchen Grandpa was holding Maggie. They played for a while and Grandpa gave many kisses. A little while later it got quiet so I peeked into the other room and this is what I saw. So sweet! I knew she was tired.

Maggie moves in her sleep sometimes and this is where she ended up. Grandpa even ate breakfast while holing her like this.

James loves his Aunt Sarah.

Grandma and Maggie this morning. It had been a while since Maggie saw Grandma and Grandpa and it took a little to warm up, but as you can see from the pics she did warm up.

A few days ago I was "eating" Maggie's toes she watched me then grabbed her foot and put it in her mouth. She has been doing it since then.

Teething

Lastnight when Mike got home Maggie was having a rough time. Both of us tried to calm her and she wasn't hungry. We gave her a teething tablet and rubbed her gums that helped some, but she was still upset so I gave her some tylenol and that did the trick. Then an hour and a half later she stuck my thumb in her mouth and bit me. I knew then that she had cut a tooth. Yea for Maggie! She is growing up too fast. What an amazing baby we've been blessed with. I LOVE my Magdalena Mae!!!

PS No pics this time. You can see the tooth yet, just feel how sharp it is.

Saturday's dinner

Mike found a video that shows how to make a brick oven out of your back yard grill to make great pizza on. We decided to give it a try. Sandy came to expirament with us. Here is Mike getting the crust ready.

Cooking

The finished product. Boy was it YUMMY!!!! We will have to do this again.

And here is the recipe that we used for the pizza dough:

(Makes 2 Large Pizzas, or Four Thin Pizzas)
1-2 Packages yeast ( 1/4 or 1/2 oz. or 2-4 teaspoons of yeast) (For our pizza, we only use Fleischmann's Yeast!)
2 teaspoons sugar
4 cups of flour or more
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup olive oil
1 and 1/2 cups of warm water
Ingredients for pizza: flour, olive oil, Fleischmann's yeast, salt, sugar, thermometer and cup.
Directions
1. Put yeast and sugar in a cup. Add 1/2 cup of water. The water should be between 100 and 110 degrees F. ( 37° C- 43° C ). Mix well. Wait about 5 minutes for the yeast and sugar to activate.
2. In a large mixing bowl, add the flour, salt, olive oil, 1 cup of warm water and the yeast mixture. Mix this with a fork to get all the liquid absorbed by the flour.
3. Place a handful of flour on a mixing surface. Dust your hands and spread out the flour. Empty the contents of the bowl on to the flour.
4. Knead the dough for 8-10 minutes or until the texture is smooth and uniform. If the dough seems a little sticky, add a little more flour. One method to knead, is to lean on the dough with the palm of your hand. Press the dough to the mixing surface. Fold the dough and repeat.
5. Place the dough in a bowl and drizzle with olive oil. Place bowl in draft free area and cover with a cloth.
6. Let the dough rise for about an hour. Punch down the dough and wait about 45 minutes. Your dough is now ready.
7. Cut the dough in half.
8. Use your hands or dust a rolling pin with flour and gently shape dough on a floured mixing surface. until the dough is the desired shape. Keep using flour, as needed so the dough won't stick. Just use your fingers to shape the dough or you can use a rolling pin.
9. Dust a cookie sheet with corn meal. (Oil will work ok, but the dough will be greasy.)
10. Use a spatula and slide the dough onto the cookie sheet. If you have a peel, assemble the pizza right on the peel dusted with corn meal. Then use the peel to place the pizza on the pre-heated Pizza Stone . (You can also assemble the pizza first and then slide a peel underneath the pizza.) If the pizza is "sticky" and won't slide easily, use some dental floss to slide under the dough! Make sure you use enough flour under the dough next time!
11. The more you make dough, the easier it will become. Don't get discouraged if it seems difficult the first time. You will surprise yourself at how easy it becomes the second time.
12. Actually, the hardest part of making dough is the clean up!
